Irene’s life work has centered around the young child.  She holds BA and MS degrees in elementary education with certification in both teaching and administration from the American Montessori Society.  Irene taught in both public and private school before founding and directing The Southampton Montessori School. She is the past president of the Beta Xi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Irene is a 2020 Stony Brook Southampton Children’s Lit Fellow and maintains membership in SCBWI, Children’s Lit Insider and 12 X 12.

Irene strongly believes that adults must always be cognizant of the importance we play in shaping future citizens, our children. All actions and words should reflect mutual respect for each other and the world we live in.  

Irene and her husband, Joe are proud parents of three children and grandparents of four grandchildren.

Irene’s most favorite pastimes are being in the company of family and friends, listening to music, observing nature, walking and traveling with her husband.
